The Central Coast Writers Conference & Book Fair is an essential annual destination for writers, teachers, students, editors, and publishers. Each year writers join our community for three days of insightful dialogue, networking, and unrivaled access to our staff.
The 2016 conference features over 65 presenters offering workshops, panels, critiques, keynotes, and craft lectures. The book fair (Thursday, Sept 29, 2016, 3-8pm in SLO Mission Plaza) hosts 150 authors, presses, journals, and literary organizations from around the state with thousands enjoying this free to the public event.
We are giving scholarships to underserved members of our community by offering a Teen Workshops, Teacher’s Program and young woman finding their voice symposium.
This year, we will do a full day of bootcamps on Friday, Sept 30 starting at 10:00am, with an opening keynote from Maui Writer’s Conference and Ted Talks, Sam Horn. The boot camps will follow with four distinctive offerings; Beginning Writers, TV & Screenwriting, Business and Marketing, Non Fiction.
The popular “Creative Minds in Dialogue” will be our evening keynote. The cast currently is Peter Dunne, Doug Richardson, Gene Perret, Jonathan Maberry, Anthony Peckham, Rob Edwards and Nancy Holder. There are 4 more pending creators that will join this inspiring keynote fireside chat.
Saturday are the workshops with a fun, festive wine and food event for the faculty at the seaside venue (SeaCrest Resort).
