Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia
Australian Birding expert and professional photographer, Dick Jenkin, joins Mark Rayner on this very special bird and nature workshop and tour. Predominately birds with a sprinkling of wildlife and landscape, the workshop is designed to expose you to numerous species (in some secret locations) and help you capture the best shots possible.
We’ll take a charter boat from Swansea to photograph pelagic including Albatross, Gannet and Shearwaters. The skipper assures us that the salmon will be running the birds are plentiful. We will moor off Moon Island, a big seabird nesting site close to shore, and add to the challenges of photography whilst rocking on a boat, gently we hope!
We visit the Hunter Wetlands Centre with a full morning to explore the 45 hectare site which abounds with many bush birds , water birds and even a rainforest section. There is a resident population of Magpie Geese plus they have a Freckled Duck breeding program and birds can be viewed and photographed in an enclosure. If water levels are right, many different species of crakes and rails inhabit the fringes of the ponds.
And that’s just the beginning. We have many different locations throughout the region and, of course, very special access to Dick’s secret spots.
