Join us on this incredible 8-day/7-night ADVENTURE SERIES workshop as we photograph BEARS, WHALES and the PACIFIC NORTHWEST.

The Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, typifies the majesty of the Pacific Northwest, boasting flawless natural beauty accentuated by a tapestry of vibrant communities and stunning backdrops, and contains some of the most sought after wildlife by photographers around the globe. Because much of this coast is uninhabited and accessible only by boat or float plane… it remains a pristine wilderness. This rich and nutrient filled ocean is loaded with a variety of marine wildlife including many different species of whales as well as harbor seals and sea lions, sea otters, porpoises and a myriad of birdlife including puffins, blue herons and bald eagles.

 

ITINERARY

~ADVENTURE SERIES PHOTO WORKSHOPS~
Designed to take you to places off the beaten path, and provide you with an unrivaled experience for photography. Each day, our instructors and local guides take you on an adventure through the landscape, then bring you back to the comforts of home. Immerse yourself in new places, and experience true naturewildlife and cultures around the globe.

DAY 1

Arrive at Vancouver International Airport, and transfer to nearby hotel.

Meet & Greet 7pm

DAY 2

Depart Vancouver hotel at 10:30am. Our adventure begins with a 2-hour ferry ride across Georgia Strait where we can photograph on deck or enjoy the ride from inside. Once we depart the ferry, we will transport to Ucluelet, and photograph along the way. Our destination and lodging is at Terrace Beach at the start of the Wild Pacific Trail. Lodging is 2 & 3 bedroom cabins in Ucluelet. We will photograph sunset along the secluded beaches with a shoreline of wind swept trees. Return to our cabins where local dinner is prepared for you. (Dinner included)

DAY 3

BLACK BEARS and WHALES are our photo subjects today. We begin with a 2-hour black bear tour in the Clayoquot Sound. This area offers the most incredible coastline for viewing black bears. Cruise through the protected and calm waters surrounding scenic Meares Island where resident bears forage at low tide for beach delicacies. Along with photographing bears, there will also be photo opportunities for eagles, seals and porpoises, river otters and other wildlife. Next we take a 3-hour boat tour in search of grey and humpback whales. Experience and photograph these amazing mammals as they dive, spout, breach and lobtail! We will photograph sunset along the secluded beaches, and return to our lodge where local dinner is prepared for you. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

DAY 4

We begin with an early breakfast, then depart our lodge and head to Campbell River. We will stop along our drive and photograph Cathedral Grove with 800 year old fir trees. After checking into our hotel, we will photograph more whales. This whale tour will take you to Robson Bight and Telegraph Cove to photograph transient and resident pods of whales. Stay in local hotel in Campbell River. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

DAY 5

GRIZZLY BEARS! Today is our first day photographing grizzly bears. We will photograph grizzlies feeding on fresh, west coast salmon in one of the most pristine wilderness areas on earth. Stay in a local hotel in Campbell River. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

DAY 6

Today is your second day for Grizzly Bears. We will spend 7-8 hours photographing grizzly bears, then depart for Cowichan Bay. Early arrival at our lodging in 2 & 3 bedroom cabins in Cowichan Bay, and enjoy home-made dinner while processing our images. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

DAY 7

ORCAS! We begin our day at first light with a 4-hour whale tour. This tour will focus on the Southern Resident Orca Whales, Transient Orca Whales, Humpback Whales, Grey Whales and Minke Whales. Keep your eyes open for Sea Lions, Bald Eagles, Harbour Seals, Dalls and Harbour Porpoise as well as a myriad of marine birds on your whale watching eco tour. Afternoon break to wander the quaint town, and then start our golden evening light tour to once again capture the Orca’s. Stay in 2 & 3 bedroom cabins in Cowichan Bay. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

DAY 8

Depart late morning for a ferry ride back to Vancouver. You will be taken to the Vancouver International Airport between 3:00-4:00pm for your evening
flight home. (Flight not included) (Breakfast included)
