Bruce Brennan spent his early childhood growing up in Westport, CT, where was exposed to a vibrant, cultured, artistic community. His family’s friends were actors, publishers, and artists. His formal art education began in NYC at Cooper Union, he then moved on to a semester in Paris at the Ecole DeBeaux Arts. “The excitement, culture and changes of Europe had a profound effect on both myself and my art.” He then returned to the U.S. to attend the San Francisco Art Institute where he received his BFA degree in Painting. San Francisco was at the epicenter of social changes. “You could feel the electricity in the air.” Fellow classmates at the San Francisco Art Institute included Annie Leibovitz (photographer), Paul McCarthy (painter), and Jerry Garcia (musician).
Alongside of exhibiting my own work, I have been teaching students, at all levels, from elementary-school students to college students to mature students since 1971. With this wealth of teaching experience and knowledge, and skill, that I have attained over the years, I am able to convey and encourage an individual’s journey as an artist at whatever level they are currently at. Please look at the content of my website and see if the style of painting I do speaks to you. In looking at my website, I am hoping that my art speaks to you and enlivens you to move forward in your own journey of building, creating, and making YOUR OWN art come to life. And then you will be well on your own way of Painting like a Master.
Come join me in beautiful Asheville NC, a picturesque Appalachian-mountain setting for an in-depth three-day oil-painting class. You’ll be warmly welcomed into your own private suite in my home, and then we will begin classes the next morning at the in-home studio. On one of the evenings, we will Plein Air one of the magnificent sunsets (that happen so frequently in this beautiful mountain area) from the overview deck.
Your class tuition will include: two daily instruction periods; your private suite accommodations; breakfasts Tuesday through Friday; use of easel; and, snacks. By arriving, and checking in after 3:00 pm Monday afternoon, this will give you time to get settled for the next three days that we’ll have in the studio. We’ll wrap up our lessons Thursday afternoon and check out will be Friday by 11:00 am.
The class will run September 18th – 22nd; and October 16th – 20th.
Please register early (my classes fill up quickly!) as my classes are designed for an individual or for one couple only. Very personal instruction for you and your significant other. However, if your significant other is not a painter, but would like to join you for the vacationing-side of visiting Asheville, they are very welcome. The individual rate cost would cover both of you for the accommodations – and there is a wealth of things to do in Asheville, NC (and the surrounding area), while one of you is painting with me in the studio.
