Bruce Brennan spent his early childhood growing up in Westport, CT, where was exposed to a vibrant, cultured, artistic community. His family’s friends were actors, publishers, and artists. His formal art education began in NYC at Cooper Union, he then moved on to a semester in Paris at the Ecole DeBeaux Arts. “The excitement, culture and changes of Europe had a profound effect on both myself and my art.” He then returned to the U.S. to attend the San Francisco Art Institute where he received his BFA degree in Painting. San Francisco was at the epicenter of social changes. “You could feel the electricity in the air.” Fellow classmates at the San Francisco Art Institute included Annie Leibovitz (photographer), Paul McCarthy (painter), and Jerry Garcia (musician).
Alongside of exhibiting my own work, I have been teaching students, at all levels, from elementary-school students to college students to mature students since 1971. With this wealth of teaching experience and knowledge, and skill, that I have attained over the years, I am able to convey and encourage an individual’s journey as an artist at whatever level they are currently at. Please look at the content of my website and see if the style of painting I do speaks to you. In looking at my website, I am hoping that my art speaks to you and enlivens you to move forward in your own journey of building, creating, and making YOUR OWN art come to life. And then you will be well on your own way of Painting like a Master.
