Finding your Voice as a Woodturner

Jeff Chelf

July 13-17

In this project based class, we will examine ways to improve your artistic and technical vocabulary as a woodturner. Throughout the week we will explore the use of paint, texture, and wood burning to hone your individual artistic style. Projects will include platters, small hollow forms, boxes, and spindle work all centered around increasing your confidence as a woodturner and artist. This class is specifically designed for intermediate level turners – recent woodturning experience is necessary. Intermediate to Advanced

Jeff Chelf is a professional woodworker and woodturner with past experiences ranging from wooden boat building to blacksmithing. Currently, Jeff is focused on the artistic side of woodturning, and in exploring how large sculptural objects influence the space that contains them. He believes craft is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, and that both creating and interacting with handmade objects can shape an individual. www.jeffchelf.com
